Barbershop Quartet

History

Formed in July 2000, Sound Judgment is a quartet made up of SPEBSQSA members representing The Golden Chordsmen of the San Mateo Chapter of the Far Western District of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America, Inc. Three of these men have previously been members of a registered quartet.  The total number of years experience in Society membership is only 35 years, with one in his rookie year.

You may have noticed seven names of Quartet Members.  That is because in the beginning we gathered seven guys to try to find four that would work together as a quartet.  As we experimented we found that all the combinations were great!, so we all wanted to stay in the "quartet."  At that point we realized that we all have busy schedules and we knew of several potential engagements, so we just stayed together to cover all the local requests for Barbershop Quartet Entertainment.  And it was a good thing (see Quartet Calendar).

The objectives of the quartet are:
1.  Entertain parties, groups, and organizations.
2.  Learn more about Barbershop harmony and music in general.
